Taking a trip back to the ways people used to eat and farmers used to produce is not that difficult here in Greece, if you know where to look. And that is what we have done.
Finding a handfull of people that still cultivate the land and raise animals in the traditional way producing foods that are so tasty and nutritious one wonders why our traditional ways of producing where abandoned by most others.
Recognizing award winning products that win taste competitions while conforming to the old traditional ways of producing is our goal.
The traditional greek cheese which we represent is made at high altitudes of 800 meters where the sheep live and eat. The milk is collected there and the cheese is made right there in a small family business. The cheese dries up there in the mountains under the air which is rich in the aroma of greek herbs like thyme and oregano, which is also part of the sheep's diet adding to the unique taste and aroma.
Our prize winning olives are also small quantities of some of the best in the world. The specific farms have been tested for soil and have been found to be the richest in elements that olive trees need to grow. Only specific parts of Greece can raise such olives. Which also goes to show why no true olive oil can come from anywhere else. You can plant an olive tree somewhere and make olive oil but its not the same. Our unique flavour always proves this.
The same can be said for our selection of greek pasta, made by wheat and milk collected from similar small family farms.
Small family farmers, creating old fashioned prodcuts, in small quantities. For people who understand the nutritional value contained therein, who appreciate the unique flavours which have won awards, and the few lucky buyers who will be fortunate to procure these from us before the quantities run out. Such is the nature of old fashion family value products, there is only so much you can make.
